چکیده

Abstract. The aerosol fine-mode fraction (FMF) is an important optical parameter of aerosols, and the FMF difficult to accurately retrieve by traditional satellite remote sensing methods. In this study, retrieval was carried out based on multiangle polarization data Polarization Anisotropy Reflectances for Atmospheric Science coupled with Observations from Lidar (PARASOL), which overcame shortcomings algorithm in our previous research. research, China compared AErosol RObotic NETwork (AERONET) ground-based observation results, Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) products, Generalized Retrieval Aerosol Surface Properties (GRASP) results. addition, applied, a new dataset produced, annual quarterly average results 2006 2013 were obtained all China. research show that study are comparable AERONET correlation coefficient (r), mean absolute error (MAE), root square (RMSE), proportion fall within expected (Within EE) 0.770, 0.143, 0.170, 65.01 %, respectively. Compared MODIS closer observations. GRASP, spatial variation ratio PM2.5 PM10 near ground.

Retrieval of Aerosol Fine-Mode Fraction from Intensity and Polarization Measurements by PARASOL over East Asia

The fine-mode fraction (FMF) of aerosol optical depth (AOD) is a key optical parameter that represents the proportion of fine particles relative to total aerosols in the atmosphere. However, in comparison to ground-based measurements, the FMF is still difficult to retrieve from satellite observations, as attempted by a Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) algorithm. In this pap...

Aerosol optical depth and fine-mode fraction retrieval over East Asia using multi-angular total and polarized remote sensing

A new aerosol retrieval algorithm using multiangular total and polarized measurements is presented. The algorithm retrieves aerosol optical depth (AOD), fine-mode fraction (FMF) for studying the impact of aerosol on climate change. The retrieval algorithm is based on a lookup table (LUT) method, which assumes that one fine and one coarse lognormal aerosol modes can be combined with proper weigh...

Retrieval of Aerosol Properties for Fine/Coarse Mode Aerosol Mixtures over Beijing from PARASOL Measurements

Beijing is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world with relatively high aerosol loading. The population of Beijing is approximately 21.5 million based on statistics from 2014. In order to improve the air quality of Beijing by monitoring and better understanding of high aerosol loading at fine spatial resolution, an extended version of the Look Up Table (LUT) aerosol retrieval algorit...

Spatial variation of aerosol properties over Europe derived from satellite observations and comparison with model calculations

Aerosol optical depths (AOD) and Angström coefficients over Europe were retrieved using data from the ATSR-2 radiometer on board the ESA satellite ERS-2, for August 1997. Taking advantage of the nadir and forward view of the ATSR-2, the dual view algorithm was used over land to eliminate the influence of the surface reflection. Over sea the AOD was retrieved using only the forward observations....

Validation of MODIS aerosol retrieval over ocean

[1] The MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) algorithm for determining aerosol characteristics over ocean is performing within expected accuracy. A twomonth data set of MODIS retrievals co-located with observations from the AErosol RObotic NETwork (AERONET) ground-based sunphotometer network provides the necessary validation. Spectral radiation measured by MODIS (in the range 5...
